Gen2sat: An Automated Tool for Deciding Derivability in Analytic Pure Sequent Calculi
نویسندگان
چکیده
Gen2sat is an efficient and generic theorem prover that can decide derivability for a wide variety of propositional non-classical logics given in terms of a sequent system. It contributes to the line of research on computer-supported tools for investigation and construction of logics in the spirit of the “logic engineering” paradigm. Its generality and efficiency are made possible by encoding a reduction of derivability in pure analytic Gentzen-style calculi to the classical satisfiability problem. This also makes Gen2sat a “plug-and-play” tool so it is compatible with any standard off-the-shelf SAT solver and does not require any additional logic-specific resources. We describe an implementation of Gen2sat, as well as a pilot study for using it an a “hands on” assignment for teaching the concept of sequent calculi in a logic class for engineering practitioners.

SAT-Based Decision Procedure for Analytic Pure Sequent Calculi
We identify a wide family of analytic sequent calculi for propositional non-classical logics whose derivability problem can be uniformly reduced to SAT. The proposed reduction is based on interpreting these calculi using non-deterministic semantics. Its time complexity is polynomial, and, in fact, linear for a useful subfamily. We further study an extension of such calculi with Next operators, ...
متن کاملOn the Construction of Analytic Sequent Calculi for Sub-classical Logics
Proof theory reveals a wide mosaic of possibilities for sub-classical logics. These are logics that are strictly contained (as consequence relations) in classical logic. Thus, by choosing a subset of axioms and derivation rules that are derivable in (some proof system for) classical logic, one easily obtains a (proof system for a) sub-classical logic. Various important and useful non-classical ...
متن کاملMinimal from Classical Proofs
Let A be a formula without implications, and Γ consist of formulas containing disjunction and falsity only negatively and implication only positively. Orevkov (1968) and Nadathur (2000) proved that classical derivability of A from Γ implies intuitionistic derivability, by a transformation of derivations in sequent calculi. We give a new proof of this result (for minimal rather than intuitionist...
متن کاملNested Sequent Calculi and Theorem Proving for Normal Conditional Logics
In this paper we focus on proof methods and theorem proving for normal conditional logics, by describing nested sequent calculi as well as a theorem prover for them. Nested sequent calculi are a useful generalization of ordinary sequent calculi, where sequents are allowed to occur within sequents. Nested sequent calculi have been profitably employed in the area of (multi)-modal logic to obtain ...
متن کاملAutomated Generation of Analytic Calculi for Logics with Linearity
We show how to automatically generate analytic hypersequent calculi for a large class of logics containing the linearity axiom (lin) (A ⊃ B) ∨ (B ⊃ A) starting from existing (single-conclusion) cut-free sequent calculi for the corresponding logics without (lin). As a corollary, we define an analytic calculus for Strict Monoidal T-norm based Logic SMTL.
